Opening Programs
At the bottom of the screen you will see many icons and folders. This is called
the Dock
-You single click on a program icon or folder to open it. Rolling your mouse over each icon will tell you the name of it.
-When a program is open a black triangle appears underneath the icon.
-You can also right click on the icon or folder to view choices or open programs within it.-When you open a program that doesn’t already have an icon in the dock, a program icon appears as long as it remains open.
-When you hide an application or document, an icon appears next to the trash and you can use it again by clicking on that icon.

The Dock is the main launching area in Mac OS X !
The name of the program currently running in the foreground appears in bold next to the apple icon (in the above example Grab is the program). This menu contains Preferences for this program and features like Hide and Quit.
The remaining menus are similar to previous MAC and PC versions of each program, except the Preferences are not located in the Edit menu.
The Finder
By single clicking on the smiling mac icon in the Dock, you get the finder browser allowing access to anywhere in the computer.
