NOTIS

The NOTIS system is the online cataloging system currently used by Indiana University Libraries. When you use IUCAT to find music, or books you are looking at records in NOTIS' "Public" view. For your work in the Technical Services department you will be using the "Staff" view of NOTIS to create and modify bibliographic records. It looks very different from what you are used to seeing, but don't worry, you'll understand it soon!

The information in the staff view is presented in a machine readable format (MARC format) and you'll also notice that there are no prompts for commands. The next section of this page will explain the commands you'll need to use for important procedures in the Staff mode.
